LVN / NIGHT SHIFT - FULLTIME - NURSING HOME

Summary of Responsibilities:
The Care Center Charge Nurse, under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Nursing or the Director of Nursing, is directly responsible for the supervision of the total nursing activities for hi/her station during each shift. Renders professional nursing care to residents within the Care Center in support of medical care and the interdisciplinary team and within the policies of the District.

Qualifications/Standards:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: High School Graduate or equivalent.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing currently licensed in the state of Texas as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or a Registered Nurse. Current CPR Certification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Experience as a licensed nurse in a long-term care facility preferred.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIREMENT: Exhibits a special interest in the older adult and others requiring long-term care. Has well-developed written and verbal communication skills in order to interpret written instructions, communicate and document effectively. Has supervisory skills for immediate supervision of nursing assistants. Seeks out and attends educational offerings to maintain necessary clinical and management skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is indoors. Visual and auditory acuity are necessary and should be sufficient to properly interpret pertinent Nursing Home and patient data. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and physically lift, pull or push a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
